I'd be ok with everybody not named Winnik.

Listen, it is not happening. The Rangers are not in and never were. But for anyone to believe that Erik Karlsson would not sign an extension with NYR, well, that's slightly bonkers.

From last blog, since I came in 1 minute behind Jan's new post:

I could see someone offer sheeting Skjei, but I doubt anyone wants to piss the Rangers off
- jimbro83

I'm skeptical of even that happening. Around here, we think the world of Skjei and rightly so, I think. But, as much as we expect that last season was an outlier for the trajectory of his career, other teams might just see a player that isn't reaching his potential. Would they be willing to take a chance on him? Probably. But, not so much through the offer sheet process where the return package would be a premium level. IMO

I think we all believed this to be true but now in black and white...

I'm really intrigued as to what Tampa would give up for Karlsson. So that deal happen.

I'd take Maroon on a 2 year deal, or a 1 year deal if he just needs to prove his back is healed, but then again why would HE want to come here?

Don’t we have Maroon already, Matt Belesky? I swear it’s the same guy

Don't understand why you're ok with having a 'proven' locker room cancer sign for cheap - specially on a team full of rookies.

Good point. Stats are eerily similar for the two.

Which one is the locker room cancer? Maroon? Duclair? Winnik?

I view Maroon as a better offensive player than Beleskey, though agreed, the numbers are very similar.

Unless the Wings could get him for cheap, IDK why they would do this.

I’m intrigued as to how they get an extension done with Karlsson and then sign Kucherov long term. With Stamkos and Hedman already making 8+ long term that’s a lot of space on four players.

Another great point. Johnson has a full NTC, Palat has 20 team NTC. Maybe Miller gets traded.

Travis Yost just tweeted this: Something to note: Ryan Callahan's full no move clause became a limited no move clause this summer. Carries a $5.8mm cap hit for the next two seasons, but paid $4.7mm in real dollars

and those guys usually dont sign long term in Tampa, with the no state income tax, with any intentions of waiving those NTC's

That is why I said Miller. Looks like his deal with Tampa is clause free. Bad job by his agent.
